Heres my 53 monark imperial super cruiser This springer fork was only used a few years so its some where around 53.
The firestone is a prewar colson built bicycle.

Ah thanks, I was told the Firestone is a Warrior, does that sound right?

Thanks for your help, Ollie :)

Hi, no I'm afraid I don't as I've not taken collection of them yet. By prewar are you saying its around 1940s?

yes prewar in the bike world means before ww2 I would put a estimate year from 38-41

Blimey, I thought it was late 60s at best. Any idea what these bikes are worth then? :shock:

The Monark should have an aluminum ID plate riveted to the bottom bracket, it can be dated by the serial #. That springer was only offered 1953-4, so it's either year if original to the bike. The Firestone should have a 2 digit code stamped also on the BB, but offset from the serial #. The second digit is the year, so, something like D9 would be 1939. -Adam

Cool thanks guys, I've not collected them yet, but my friend sent me this message about them...

"monark silver king bicycles chicago Illinois red is firestone warrior blue model number 640
A1501148 serial number"

Does that make any sense to anyone?!

Really appreciate the help. :D

quick fact.
here is the different bike company's that sold to tire company's.
So if you see a head badge with theses on them now you know.

Prewar
Goodyear=Colson
BF-Goodrich=Schwinn
Firestone=Colson

Postwar (after war)
Goodyear=Columbia
BF-Goodrich=Schwinn
Firestone=Monark

Thanks guys. 8)
