In my eternal quest to refuse to pay full retail for anything , I've been searching for a good price on a set of brown Fat Franks for my current build. http://www.ratrodbikes.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=27036&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=Amsterback

While I didn't use this vendor (stupid reason, I'll post it on the build thread later),after many internet searches (I even contacted vendors in Europe) I found them for $73.56 with free shipping (any order over $49 is) from harborcountrybike.com

Hold on a minute Dr. T! You said they were UNDER $70 shipped!
Well, here's what happened. Like many websites, in order to add them to your basket, you need to create an account. I did that, added them and decided to buy them later (you know bookmarked it for future reference).

Well, lo and behold, a few minutes later I get an email entitiled "We noticed that you added items to your shopping cart, then you left!"
The email reads:
"As an incentive to finish your order today, we would like to offer you 5% off your order. That's right, an additional 5% off the already low harborcountrybike.com price on any product!"

I don't know if the code is order/user specific, so I didn't include it here.

Well, here's the math, $73.56 - 5% = $69.88 for a pair of Schwalbe Fat Franks (creme or brown) shipped to your lovely home, place of business or adddress of your choosing!

I hope some folks can take advantage of this offer!

Cheers!

Thanks for sharing....now all I need is the $
I hear that! I had to not buy anything on vacation AND leverage an upcoming birthday present to get 'clearance' for them!

They better be some sweet rolling rubber!

Actually I just bought a pair of Kenda 26x2.125 street tires from Harbor Country Bike for $10 apiece. I did the same thing just looking for the cheapest street tire in plain black with no lettering to throw on a bike that has dry rotted tires until I get around to actually doing something with, but in the meantime it's rideable. They also have a pretty large selection of tires.

Not sure about this vendor, went to the site and clicked on tires/26" and just an empy page?

I agree that the links to the sub-categories don't work. It's either poor coding or an issue with whoever hosts their site. The 'stupid' reason I mentioned earlier has something to do with this.

Long story short, when I went to place my order, the site was down, stating that the host expired on 9/14, it was 9/15. So I 'panicked' and ordered through Amazon for $4.45 more.

I think I overreacted.
