When I was building this bike I ordered most of the stuff through Niagra Cycle, including the Avenir thornproof tubes, and Cheng Shin tires.
The more expensive tubes were well worth it. They're flattened radially so they slide right in without scrunching up and binding. I had Cheng Shins on some of my bikes back in the day, and they were always good tires.
I put these on the rims, pumped 'em up to 45 lbs- my Schwinn ballooners were always 45 lbs in the tire. I've been riding it like this since last fall. Love it. Best rider I've ever owned.
And then, just the other day I noticed the sidewall of the tire.
Inflate to 60-65 lbs.
65 lbs
It's like a whole new bike.
