Why do some schwinns like typhoons have painted fenders and wheels and some have chrome? Was it cause of when they were made..was it a quality option? Always curious! Sorry for the new guy questions but we all started somewhere!

I always thought the upper trim models recieved more chrome, but I have seen chrome fenders on most all of the models?

The question I have been wondering lately, are the frames different sizes based on model?

Both actually! Typhoon was a "lower ticket" model, and had lower cost options i.e. painted wheels and fenders. But after about 68 or so, just about everything came with chrome wheels and fenders. As for different sized frames for different models, not so much. Cantilever frames came sized for 20", 24", and 26" wheels and the dimensions were all the same regardless of model distinction. The two possible differences that come to mind are, a middle weight frame and a heavy weight frame would have had different dimensions for tire clearance. And there was a "king size" frame that was a bit taller, but that was like a year or two, if memory serves correctly.

Some models, like the American, had a "base" model and a Deluxe model. The standard had painted fenders, painted chain guard, whereas the deluxe had chrome fenders, a slim tank and chrome-accented chain guard. But those things did change some year to year. I've personally always thought that painted fenders had a more integrated look.
