My collection is 'missing' a good road bike. I've got 2 x BMX cruisers, Fat Bike, a vintage MTB and an Electra cruiser - all heavily customised.

I found this 2014 'Specialized Allez Expert' online from a private seller for what I believe is a good price - and am going to check it out tomorrow. Looks to be in excellent condition and it's all Ultegra kit.

It's a 'Large' size 56 - for a 6'4" bloke? I'm thinking I'd put a taller stem on it.

Any comments or advice?

looks good from here. Does the seller know how many miles it has approximately?

Nah - waaaay too small.
Lovely bike, great condition but subsequent research tells me I need a 61cm frame. Which are not that plentiful in my used-price range - the search will continue however.

Yes freebie - I found something ... quite unexpected as it turns out.

Earlier today I drove 2 hours south to Tweed Heads in northern NSW to test ride this 2015 60cm Felt carbon race bike. It had been traded-in at a bike shop and I thought it fitted my bill - although the $Au1,500 asking price was 50% over budget, it appealed because it was a $7+k bike new.

So I test rode it - and hated it. Not the machine's fault - it's a finely tuned brute - but it was much 'harsher' than I expected and not within my 63 year old riding 'stylez..

So I got home and there was a message on my computer from a seller I'd contacted - who offering a 'Tall man's Bicycle' on Gumtree (our version of Craigslist).

So I drove another half an hour and checked out this Vintage Pugeot.

Immediately I saw it - I said 'deal' and paid $110 for it on the spot. Didn't even ride it because it had flat tyres.

Got it home, inflated and rode it around the block - and I love it. It's light, smooth and steel.

It's now going to be my entry in the upcoming build off and I plan to fully restore it (it's quite rough up close - but all there).

My Ph.D in Google tells me it's a slightly modified 1982 Pugeot PBN 10 S.
