y
It's going to be a quick build .

Don't know the exact history but Bike is 1950 according to date on rear SA hub
CCM has been around longer than that and there are lots of really old Masse Harris bikes out there .
That poster is from way back bike has the ribbon Head badge could be in the teens .
This one 's just an old Sunshine

That's a great looking frame. Killer chainring on it too.
Welcome back to the fun!

Time to start documenting
Going to roughly keep track of my time not including picture taking and posting

1 hour teardown. sorry no pictures
Had a stuck crank and broken stem took the propane torch to the crank it came off but bearings were toast .
Had to wrestle with the stem but it came out .

1.5 hours Cleaned up crank and headset removed green paint no pictures

1.5 hours Stripped the nasty green paint off that includes wait time for stripper to eat through.
Used a combination of chemical paint stripper and power washer .
Stripper power wash stripper power wash repeat as needed .
Looks like it had more than one paint job .

Its a Sunshine built by Massey Harris in Canada
Will try and get a picture of a real teens Massey Harris I think a friend of mine has one
Just playing it by ear for now will have front and rear drum brakes with 3 speed hub .
Going with Moto bars as that's what I have .
Also will have nice paint as I have already removed 3 paint jobs .
No gadgets or gizmos maybe a headlight that's it.
Long wheelbase and yes welded brazed and riveted construction nice steel as well .
I have three projects on the go right now but thought I would jump in there with this so you guys could see it .

Build is going good worked on 3 speed hub yesterday cleaned it up got new grease on the bearings .
I don't have a lot of experience with three speed or drum brake hubs but think it turned out ok .
Have to go and get some SAE20 oil and it should be good to go will post some more pics soon .

Heres the wheels newer rims and front hub I had lying around respoked by my friend Gilles .

This is your Sunshine,
.......your only Sunshine,
It'll make you happy,
.......when skies are grey!

You'll put a drum brake,
.......on either end now,
And safe and smiling
........ is how you'll stay.

This is your Sunshine,
.......your home built Sunshine,
You'll build a Great Ride,
.......I'm sure to say,

In such a short time,
...... You'll have another beauty,
to proudly hop on and ride away.....

.... you can just hum along if you don't know the words.
