I was called Stiletto, sharp and sleek.
But when the acid rain fell, I was reborn


Frame:Cruiser by Biltema, CrMo. Acid washed
Fork:DKW Diamant, anno 1938. Threaded 25.4mm steerer, non-BSA thread!
Brake caliper mount:DIY, L-profile 25x25mm Q235 steel
Rear suspension data:Preferred usable travel of linkage 159mm. Used travel after sag 117mm. Sag set at 42mm travel (=26% of total travel) at 85kg rider weight + bike unsprung weight. Spring travel used <54mm. Spring preload 46mm.
Rear swing arm:Upper joint: scissor jack
Bifurcation: part of fork 26" MTB 'Action', CrMo
Lower legs: from 26" fork cruiser by Biltema, CrMo
Rear scissor joints:Upper shanks 145mm, Lower shanks 109mm. 18x3mm C9D (SS 1312), 'bondjärn', semi hard, semi Mellanglödgad. Carbon 0,04-0,10%.
Brake caliper mount:DIY, L-profile 25x25mm Q235 steel
Rear shock:Legs: 18x3mm C9D (SS 1312), 'bondjärn', semi hard, semi Mellanglödgad. Carbon 0,04-0,10%. Tapped M5x0.75mm
Springs: Wiener Bike Parts / SR Suntour SF15XCM-DS-RL(LO) 26/27.5/29" HARD, art.no. 2220591060, 22.5 coils, wire diameter 3.5mm, solid height 78.75mm, total length 232mm, spring constant (est.) 8.26 N/mm

Acid is intended for cruising. Cruising down Fury Road, that is.

Starting out as a run-of-the-mill, cheap cruiser.

Internal three speed gear, and satin black paint. Tidy. Convenient. Boring.
Mud guards. No need, it never rains on Fury Road.

Welcome to the build off fun! Looks like you are off to a good start.

My grandfather came over from Sweden to the USA in 1912. He was born in the Småland region. I still have relatives in Oskarshamn.

Thanks! So you're part swedish, cool :) i've heard a lot of swedes moved to MN. Oskarshamn is not too far from where I live

Welcome to RRB and the fun of the Build Off!
It's always cool to add another international builder to the mix. I enjoy seeing the different perspectives and parts our non-US builders bring.
That frame mimics a Dyno cruiser, but I think it is related to the chinese built Kulana frames that were sold in the US. Cool curvy cantilever design to play with for sure.
Have fun and build a cool bike!
 
I’m going with 29er wheels with disc brakes.

The size difference is substantial between 1.95”x26” and 2.4”x29”.
Rear wheel fitted without any problems, but the fork is too low and the tire rubs.. I’ll have to think of some solution to this.

Here only the rear 29er is fitted, and I’ve used a ceiling cover from a pendant lamp, as a front light reflector. Looks ok but will need to be surface treated :)
 
I'd say if you have a black rim with black spokes in a 26", and put a all black tire on with some knobs, similar to your rear, you'd have a cool looking " 69er".

Excuse my hand drawn Paint job, but you get the idea. It kind of depends on where you want to go with this. If you keep the light shroud, chains , spring , etc then maybe it's more of a ratty Kruiser. If you strip it down to a more 'off-road' look, then maybe a ratty Klunker.

In this photo, you def have the Klunker look going....which I personally like. But it's your bike!

True, it looks klunker with the white 26s, but I desire a more scavenged look, not 'period correct', so to say.
I'm intending to mix new drivetrain and brakes with the old frame and saddle.

Mad Max style? I would make some fork extensions and crude truss rods to fit the 29er. Or maybe a armored springer of some kind.
Agreed! I'll work on the fork.
Sorry, I don't fully understand 'crude truss rods'.. Care to elaborate?
