Just looking to see if there is a decent complete bike out there, canti style 26" frame, that can be bought new with decent parts, mainly a good quality coaster hub that comes stock. I know virtually everything now is made in China, just curious if there's something that can be bought new for under 200 bucks I could pick up and Rat out. Thanks.

CRANBROOKS!!!!!!!!! my sister got hers for $53 at walmart because it was the floor model

I've been looking at those, do you know how the coaster on em holds up? Haven't heard anything bad about em yet, i've actually got a good vibrations cruiser on the way, got some ideas so looking to pick up a second bike, thanks.

A whole thread devoted to just that, Huffy Cranbrook from Wally World.

The First bike, very cool like the rest

Any new 1-spd coaster in that price range will have the same type of hub, some pricier models may have spin-tested "select" versions. They should be checked for grease and bearing preload for maximum durability and life.

for under $200 I've seen alot of older USA built bikes with parts in good condition and in my opinion a good Schwinn, USA Murray or any number of quality frames will hold up much better than a newer imported one.

If you were planning to modify the frame, you may want to steer clear of the OP cruiser, since it's aluminum and more difficult to weld. Other than that it'd be my choice for something new and cheap.

Sinner 4 I love that bike, thinking of a similar build. When I test rode a Cranbrook in WalMart, it seemed realy wobbly, but I think the bar is the culprit there, how's it with the BMX bars? I love BMX bikes, but I'm too big for them nowadays, except fpr the 24" ones.
I bought an old Murray F&F, to build up, but I saw your build and thought I could do something like that, and since it's a 26" I could even get a rack / baskets for a practical bike I can ride daily and quit burning up gas in my car. I also thought about a 24" Cranbrook to cannibalize for parts for my old Murray, but I don't know if the parts would interchange, since the Cranbrook is chinese built, and all metric (Murray frame is from the 80s)
Right now I've got a Roadmaster MTB I'm thinking of taking back, front derailer won't adjust.
Though I could ride it without the gears working in the front, still a six speed (suspesion forks suck, though)
