Just moved to Portales NM and just found this site. Awesome site
I just got a Western Flyer from a friend and should start taking it apart to re grease everything and clean up. prob some apre hangers and brick tires. I also have a schwinn traveler, lowrider, dyno, and that's it....for now
I'm also a pinstriper and a VW fanatic

bought my son his first bike at wlmart, just didn't have enough time to find him a old school one, so I took it aprat and got it painted. I don't want my son to have the same bike as the rest of the kids at the park :lol:

So lurking around, I think this western flyer had a columbia fork? not sure, if it is then the serial number lands here 1940.……E5000 - E168879, so maybe you guys can just tell me if I'm right or just stupid. thanks guys
 
I love that little bike you did. Looks totally top notch.

I also like the proportion of the chain guard to the rest of the bike!

Looks like Columbia dropouts to me, but they were using rear entry in 1940. Sprocket too, but you know what can happen there. :wink:

I think you have one of these, but labeled differently. 1960ish.
