You would think it would be simple to find what I want but I've yet to find it.
I want two alum/alloy rims, 1.75 wide. I want them gloss black w/ either chrome or black heavy duty spokes. The front rim, I want to be quick release b/c I take my bikes on camping trips a lot and the rack on my camper is the easiest place to carry them. The back rim I want to be a single speed freewheel- does not have to be quick release- that is not dished so I don't have to use spacers to align the chain (the symmetry-or lack thereof- bothers the aesthetic appeal to me).
And I want a decent commuter saddle that is comfortable w/o bike shorts from the first use and doesn't look dorky.
And...I don't want to have to spend $100 for each of the a fore mentioned items.
Yeah, I know...I'm dreaming. :?

Hate to say it, but you're totally dreaming, especially the $100 part. But believe me, I sympathize with you.

I might have a lead for you though. I just bought a set of these in orange for my wife's cruiser, they're very nice, and for $68 they're hard to pass up. I've seen them in black from time to time from these guys. Contact them and they may be able to hook you up. But you might be on your own to modify the front axle to a screwer type.

Now that's funny! Villy Customs is in my city...perhaps I'll drive over and talk to Fleetwood.
p.s. Thanks brother for the idea! :D

I'll be darned, I didn't notice your location. Ya I was in contact with Fleetwood for the transaction. Every vibe I got from those guys was that they were straight shooters, enthusiastic.

Is it as simple as pulling out the solid threaded axle up front and putting the bearings and races on a hollow axle?

ok, perhaps I should add the rims and seat after Salma Hyack...but then again I wold have to worry about what my wife would say.
