A lot of people use the Felt cruisers for building a motorized bike. I used a 1903 and the aluminum 50mm wide 26" wheels are fine. It will depend on the size of the engine though. They aren't motorcycle spokes so you need to be somewhat reasonable.
 
Personally I wouldn't go aluminum unless they are some good quality BMX style double or triple wall rims that can take the abuse, and even at that I'd go for a 49cc bike engine kit not say for example a 5 horse briggs engine. Those are too powerful and heavy for a bicycle frame and bicycle wheels and will eventually rattle itself apart. If you can find one in your price range try to find a junk old moped, they have wheels that are perfect for motorized bikes and are built to handle that extra torque. They also have some that are mags and look really cool.
