AMC FLASH

I did some trading at the local flea market today and got this balloon tire, inch pitch bicycle.
I think it looks like a Schwinn? The head badge says it is a AMC FLASH.
Any help with identifying this bike would be appreciated. I hope that the pics. will show up.

I suspect you have an early post-ww2 Schwinn built bike, probably 47. D starts in 48, unfortunately #'s before that were lost. Not a definite answer, just my amateur op. :|

I did a little more dis-assembly of the Flash and noticed that both hubs are painted black.
