I picked up an odd womens Collegiate (I think) today it looks to be all original but looks more violet in color.
what puzzles me is has the eye stabber levers and white chubby grips and bow pedals. the chainguard has no lettering but has the big starburst on it like suburbans have the serial is on the headtube and is JH xxxxx
it has 26" s5 wheels and a sprint derailleur chrome fenders and the purple s seat.

It also has a Sprint derailer. Its a cool bike. Serial makes it a 72, but the guard is an older style. Not sure what you got there

I am thinking its a replacement frame with all the parts being a 66 or 67 collegiate

I was definitely thinking it was close to 65, 66 or 67.

Love that color!!! :D

its been driving me nuts all day its clearly a 1972 frame but everything else pointed back to 67 i think 65 and 66 had the shifter on the downtube
this will cleanup beautiful I cant wait til I get some nice weather

i believe by late 67 the eyestabbers/red dots and sprint derailers went away. id say 66 parts at the latest. ive got a suburban the same color (more pinkish than the violet im used too) that is mid 70s.

Looks like they made a Burgandy, but surely that isn't what your bike is.

I do see that the Lil Chik in 1970 was available in Violet.

this one has driven me nuts because the help on the Schwinn Forum has thinned with all the crap that happens there

I bet that is a custom bike from the factory.

Not sure how else you can explain a late model serial number with a paint color that wasn't offered that year.

I'm such a sucker for Violet Schwinns....and that's about the only thing I would like that color on.

it cant be a factory order it has to be a replacement frame as all the parts on the bike are from earlier bikes (1967)
razor fenders chainguard style and red dot eyestabbers

Yeah...something special like that where they would spray a frame with a color not offered that year.

This makes it super rare right?!!

Maybe the only violet 72 Breeze in existence!!!!!

It will look sweet when it's all cleaned up.

you guys do not forget, Schwinn offered lifetime replacment on their frames. If a frame was damaged then the frame (and only the frame) would be replaced. I once saw an original paint CAMPUS GREEN super deluxe. The owner damaged the frame and schwinn replaced it. It was a real 1971 super deluxe.

That is a cool occurrence for sure.

Would be interesting to see how that would do on Ebay.
