Have some time off this week. Our plans were to take our MTBs to Wyoming to ride a rail-to-trail but the weather didn't look good so we've done a 180 with our direction and bikes. Loaded up and leaving in the morning.

Looks like fun. How are your bikes mounted in the bed of your truck though?
It's a rack a friend and I made from a redwood 4x4 and parts from an old roof mount rack. In the corners of the truck bed there are tie down brackets. J bolts hook to the brackets and are bolted through the 4x4. We also have a hitch mounted rack but I prefer this for the long hauls.

were you headed to that medicine bow trail? i've been meaning to get up there since they built it. the only problem with the weather there is that summer comes a month late and winter comes a month early. they say kids in laramie only dye easter eggs so they can find them in the snow......

If it's the one near Laramie then yes that's where we were going. Didn't even know the name.
I'm here instead now...

Dirty, brown and smelly but I won't complain when it's just a days drive. So we spent a couple days in Galveston riding up and down the sea wall. It had been 10 years since we last visited. The place is still pretty tore up from the hurricane.
Ride video...

While there we also checked out Island Bicycle which is a great shop. The place is packed with cool cruisers, parts and collectible stuff. Phone photos of the shop...
This one reminds me of my #14.

Nice video. You came from Kansas to Galveston?....right in our backyard. too cool. Hope Texas treated you well.
Yes we did and yes it did. I thought about you as we spent what seemed like days driving thru Houston. I guess you get used to the traffic?
We like Texas. Like I said we'd been to Galveston once before years ago and have made a few trips to Dallas, Austin and San Antonio. My folks like the Big Bend area.
Kansas is a great place to live and work. I wouldn't want to vacation here though.

We live in a little pimple town stuck on the south side of Houston. As you came down 45 or the gulf freeway on your way to Galveston you were within 1/2 mile of my house. Man so close and yet so far away.  :(
