It is a pretty sad story. All those classic bike being replaced by "hipper" ones. The bike culture seemed to has been replaced just like the economic and real estate. While mother nature had her hand in the transfer of cultural powe in N.O, I see it happening here in ATX. The eastside of I35 has traditionally been low income and all that. The cool kids have come in and with them the money. I see alot of fixies and tons of roadbikes. Most of the roadbikes are ridden by the livestrong crowd.

I lived there, before and after Katrina. Funny, but I never noticed the cruiser bike culture when I lived there. It was a great article, though. Very accurate, very heartfelt.
