Had one of my antique dealer / picker friends bring this by yesterday.

Traded a bunch of houshold antiques for it, don;t think I stole it but did ok .. had an offer on it already, but want to play with it first, lol. ( rides GREAT, had it out after airing up the tires, nice find ) .

Was wondering if the gurus here could comment on the originality.

Seat may be changed, but not sure.... pedals look newer ( reflectors ), tires are 'saf tee' square brick-pattern , maybe vintage replacements ? ( very minro weather cracks started in spots ) .

I'd like to make it as original as possible, then maybe flip it to get funds towards my other two rat projects, if I can find out thwt should be on it.
Thanks for any help.

Cool clean bike :)

The bike looks like a 60's -70's middleweight to me, those 3 spring seats are usually found on older bikes though like you were thinking, main thing is the front bezel and lights on the tank look nice and complete :D

Definitely an older 50s seat. Pedals and wheel reflectors are newer, grips possibly. And it would likely have had Allstate tires originally. Sears essentially retired the JC Higgins name after 1963. -Adam

Great find! That one is in very good condition for its age. Looks like a clip was added much later for a frame pump. Its a Murray for sure. Check the rims, see if they are stamped M.O. MFG. CO. These are great riders.
