Another stupid bike question

I know. There are no stupid questions. Just stupid people who ask them. LOL

Anyway, I see cool vintage 5 or 10 speed stem shifters online, like the Simplex unit I used on my Build Off 13 bike, and was wondering if they would work with modern 3 x 7 speed systems? They all move about 90 degrees don't they?

I tried converting a grip shifter to stick shifter, but wasn't too thrilled with how it worked. Really like how that stem shifter works though.

Sometimes the range of the shifter is enough, sometimes not. How badly do you need all seven gears? Mixing and matching components is always a one off affair...

The good news is, these vintage levers are not indexed, so that's one less headache to deal with.
