Taking a load to dump tomorrow, 6-7 bikes plus a bunch of parts. Spring cleaning, keep the wife happy.

Dumped them off this morning and then went out to do some disaster relief work here in town from the tonados, happened upon a crushed jogging stroller, didn't have my tools but I grabbed the bent quick release front wheel with 16" tire, only reason I got it is because it's the same tread as the front of my BFK.

aren't there any co-ops near you? they might be able to use a lot of that stuff on frankenbuilds. maybe do a search, to see where the closest one is.

just a thought.

ps- ppl will buy some of those old step-thru frames, too.

If you are talking to me, no, no there are not. I hadn't even heard of a bicycle co-op till I joined this forum, and even now I'm still a bit hazy about what one is.

I was talking to pretty much anyone with a load of bikes/frames/parts bound for the dump. A co-op is a non-profit outfit that helps ppl without a lot of cash/ know-how get bikes or keep their bikes running. They always seem appreciative of old, non-marketable components, b/c they might be able to use them on someone's ride. If they can't, then i guess it'll hit the dump anyway, but it's kind of a last-chance for those parts.

I'm thinking that co-ops are clustered in urbanized areas, where they have need and support for such things. There are at least 2 within 15 miles of my home, but i live in Jersey.

Yeah, I figured, I wasn't sure if it was like a club or something. We have no greenways here, no rails to trails, no bike lanes, but as the weather is warming up there are more and more bikes on the road, but not much in the way of quality.I'm trying to keep it alive around here.

Yea, I got soem parts and an old pre-war frame, fork and bearings. Along with Old appliances, cans, other stuff thatn keeps evading the crusher. Weekend after weekend I get accupied. One of these days I'll get rid of them.
