Well I got my mountain bike. I sold bikes and am working on selling one more. I sold the Schwinn that I picked up last week, the Tornado minus the 2 speed kickback/Quick Brick tires and the Felt is on CL. It is a Azonic Steelhead (steel frame) with Marzocchi Bomber fork, cheap Hayes hydra disc brakes. Set up with a 2x9 and bash ring. The derailer is bent and the front brake needs some work. I get to learn about hydralic disk brakes now. The geometry and the fork might be a little extreme for my riding. But I may get into some downhill singletrack in the Foothills. The price was under my budget

steel heads are great frames, throw a short fork on it and its good for dj and park. Keep the tall fork and you got a good allmountain/hardtail freeride or downhill bike. I might actually build one up since the frames can be bough all day for a buck fifty on the bay.

I like it because I am partial to steel. The are a heavy frame. Look at the rear dropouts- 1/4" steel.

That is one mean looking MTB!
I do a little around here (yes MI has some decent trails!)
But I have taken some pretty hard hits and am losing my confidence on the trail :?
The ground/trees/etc hurt more as I get older...

Definately tough. That fork sucks up the bumps. I was hitting curbs straight on without pulling up on the handlebars and I could barely feel them.

Congrats, that's a pretty bombproof setup. I've spied those Azonic frames on Jenson's many times as a singlespeed buildup. Had Hayes HFX juicy brakes on my IH 7point3, when it finally came time for some maintenance I went to the Avid BB7s once again, I think mechanicals are much more tunable(not all though) and can be jury rigged if necessary.

Yes mechanicals are easier to tune and work on, but nothing stops like hydros.

Both have more stopping power than is necessary, hydros just don't have the feel in really steep stuff.

These will work for now. Someday I may upgrade the brakes. BB7's if I can't figure out how to work on hydra's myself.

Thanks. I had fun with it the past weekend at the cyclepark. They have dirtjump, pump track and some cool berm and jump lines.

I have NO idea what ya'll are talking about! Single speed/coaster brake is about it for me...Although...disc brakes seem VERY COOL to me...I'm lost about the rest...
