Ball ring spanner

I needed a spanner to crack my seized ball rings free on a sturmey Archer 5 speed,

So I built this:

I cut half a circle in a piece of 2-1/2" x 1/4" band iron and welded 1/4" key stock for teeth. The 3rd piece of stock rests on the hub flange, keeping the spanner balanced. Loaded in my hub holder, It Works great!

I find myself doubting! :shock: Ingenious idea, it's great to to make your own tools that work well.

There are wrenches available, but i'm just so darn cheap! Oh yeah, the bike this hub came from I found at the dump. Cheeeaaappp!
