I spent the day sandblasting bikes, must say I like the look have seen a few post about
bare metal bikes here. My question is do you clear coat it. or just leave it

check Gallery section -bare metal bikes- I have 2 in there, 1st one not clear coated, 2nd one [newest] clear coated. You can tell which one is and is not.

Here is my Emory I use at work. I blasted it in the cabinet at work almost two years ago. I left it bare since it spends its life inside and just let the rust form. This pic is from June of last year. The bike has a much rustier look now.

I would think a matte clear powdercoat would be the way to go! Do they have such a product out there?

I'm sure they do. The shop that powder coated my Dyno frame was doing a bunch of BMX frames for a factory racing team of some sort (I forgot the name). They polished the steel, welded the frames, and left the blue and gold weld burns at all the joints. The powder coaters put a bronze tinged clear coat over the naked metal. It looked cool as all get out. I like the idea of putting a mirror finish on a steel frame, and setting it with a durable clear.

You can actually take a clear base and mix it with automotive urethane clear coat and combined with the necessary hardener the clear will be flat and almost appear to be bare metal, looks reall cool, I have actually done it to a few cars, I have done it quite a few times back when I was the lead painter for a local Ford dealership.

I try'd the flat clear for mag wheels from the auto parts store. It went on nice, you can tell a difference but it is flat
I like it, now if I could just stop buying stuff and finish a build

yes but I got sand in places sand should not go to get that bare point but I do like the look
gonna try different types of blasting to see how it differes from stand
