barn find

this is a fresh barn find, literally. this lady's roof fell in on her barn and she had to get rid of everything in it. i don't know much about it. the headbadge says schwinn spitfire. the chainguard says schwinn hornet. i'm not really sure what it is. it might just be a conglomeration of parts. any info you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Very cool find! What size are those wheels? Schwinn definitely made a "Spitfire" stye Hornet, so in my opinion it looks to be mostly original. What throws me off is that rear fender brace and reflector....I've NEVER seen that set up before...and I have seen ALOT of old bikes. Are those fenders peaked, or regular dish? Are those drop center rims? Great candidate for a restore, ride as is, ORRRRRR.....RAT! Enjoy!

the wheels are 26". the fenders are not peaked, just regular dish. i am definitely not going to restore it. i'm in the process of restoring one now, and it's way too much work. Probably just going to clean it up a little bit and keep it ratty.

that bike is absolutly perfect as is!
looks like a higgins rear reflector I would say it was a hornet and somebody added the spitfire badge

yeah, my bike has the exact same headbadge, and chainguard as your wife's.
