Wally world is selling 96 link chains for 8 bucks. Good Bell chains.

My Cycle truck and Phanton needed 110-112 link chains so 24 bucks for 3 and got lots of sapre links..

Much much less than the 50-70 for those KMC deals floating around

Yep, next time go with porkchop. I bought one of the walmart chains once in a pinch, got home, realized I needed just a piece of another, so had to make another trip (not too happy! :x ) Also, don't waste your money on their chain link tool, you will be lucky if you use it once before it breaks. Get a good one from your LBS & it will last a long time. 8)

I've used the Bell chain from Walmart on a few occasions, but like noted above, I've needed about one and a half packages of them to get a useful length. I've also found that they come in two different colors (one blackish and the other more gold tinted). It might just be variations in the plating batches.

On a side note, my LBS just went out of business. Good folks, and I tried buying from them whenever possible, but they just didn't stock a lot of non-MTB stuff. It's a shame, because they were walking (riding) distance from my house. Now I have to go a couple towns over.

I never support my LBS they are a bunch of snobs, They look down on you if you don't ride a $1500+ bike. Rarely stock anything but overpriced tires, overpriced tubes, and high dollar accessories such as lights, digital speedometers, heart rate monitors, exc. Literally there is a better selection of stuff at Walmart. They used to be cool even had a collection of old bikes up on display around the shop. But the old man who ran it retired and his snobby son took it over and sold everything.

Same here with my LBS. Mostly high end MTN Bike and road stuff. They ordered me some tires and tube and made a spoke in a pinch, but when asking them about rebuilding a wheel, the first thing out of their mouth was you need a new rim. I understand the cost involved. They make their own spokes so $1 a piece and they want $40 to put together and true, obviously cheaper to buy a new one, but did not even give a consideration to putting one together.

I want to get one of these for my schwinn typhoon as well but I'm not sure which one I need. They have to different lengths. Does any one know which one I would need? Please help.

I get most of my chain from salvaging it from garage door openers, good heavy duty stuff... and its free. There is enough chain on one opener to do several bikes. No wally world chain for me!! :|

Good Bell chains... isnt that an oxymoron?

Well I ended up just buying a schwinn brand (dorell) from osh hardware for $8 something. I actually like it better as this chain is black/dark grey in color as compared to the yellowish Color ones that are at walmart.
