So, does anyone know off the top of their head if the drivers of Bendix Red band and Bendix skip tooth hubs are the same thread and size wise? (I mean the actual cog driver, with the threaded portion in the hub). I realize the outer side is different for the different cogs (threaded versus snap ring type), but is the internal end the same? I don't have any to compare to at the moment. For a very particular reason I want to swap the snap ring setup on my red band to a threaded skip tooth, and so this is why I ask. Thanks in advance.

If you are just trying to accomplish a cog swap could you just do come creative grinding and weld the skiptooth sprocket to the 1/2" pitch one?

Thanks guys. I think I'll tear one apart later and check it. Good to hear you've done it Rico.

I tried that once before- I actually ground a skip tooth cog WAAAYYY down so it was as thick as a regular snap ring type 1/2 pitcher, welded some appropriately spaced tabs to fit the driver, and it didn't work out very well. It was a little weak and kinda funky looking, so I think I'm going to try the driver swap first. If all fails I have a backup plan, it's just more involved.
