I recently have came upon a trade and I need to ship a cruiser. Whats the best method and companies you guys have dealt with shipping a cruiser?

I use UPS but I have learned that packing and a good box are key to make sure it arrives in the same condition it was shipped.

I've used Greyhound for shipping a large El Camino fender. It worked well for a good price but it requires cooperation and coordination between both parties.

USPS (for me) generally only ends up fairly priced if the item is small and light. I've had terrible luck for fair prices on anything slightly larger.

UPS I've used a few times and haven't gotten any negative response but have read on many occasions that you can expect damage more often than

FedEx. Good prices, good transit times and I've heard they take the best care. I just shipped a Schwinn Racer for 64$ across the country.

This is all just my experience! Good luck

I ship out completely disassembled bikes in two boxes for around 40-45 dollars using USPS
Keep box size (length & girth added together) under 108inches. MAKE SURE U DO THIS!
Zip tie parts to the frame. Light frames will run around $18 Heavy cruisers up to $26
Ship wheels separately for around $15 $18
The key is in the packaging & using the right size box when shipping USPS. Good Luck

Here is an example of "go home and do it again"
A Higgins frame that was shipped to me in too large a box
The member used a box that was around 127inch. TOO LARGE!
It arrived to me in a box that was for a 29inch mtn bike. WHAT THE!
The frame easily fit into the 108 inch box as seen below.
And keep in mind that I have shipped out 8 framesets & 3 complete bikes since joining RRB in August. Numerous wheelsets too.

Nice herc! I made a thread on shipping via USPS. one inch over the 108 limit, and boom! It's 65 bucks. Under it, about 20 bucks. I can't get a whole bike in there, but everything minus the wheels will fit. 43 x 23 x 8 is my goal when I modify a bike box, that's right at the limit. I usually make up a few of these boxes at a time. Here's the thread:

DITTO! For ballooner frames I figure 17 lbs and ship in a reworked standard bike box to 40" x 8" x 24". Can't beat USPS shipping for price and ease of operation! Robert

I wouldn't trust Fed Ex

my LBS gave me a wheel box and told me to ship Fedex Residential Ground as the best price for wheels.
I think it was $13 to $14 IIRC.
zip tie them together with a bit of packing between them to keep them from rubbing each other.
