Got my new to me seat in the mail the other day. I have it stripped down. It’s going to need some work before I can start to recover it. Does anyone happen to know what the seat is? It’s an 18”. Says it’s made in Korea.

Not sure of the brand, but you can’t go wrong with a two piece pan! Makes reupholstering SO much easier!

This is a no update update. Life has gotten in the way of progress in the bike. Finished a re wire project on a friends 65 Malibu and made a 300 mile round trip for cars and coffee at the Speedway Motors museum last weekend. Kids graduation, yard work etc. I’m hoping to get back on it soon.

First order is to get the seat pan blasted. I’m going to relocate the post mount a few inches forward moving the seat back some.
It’s going to need some rust repair as well.

Figure out what sprocket set to use. I’m looking for a stingray mag sprocket for it. Change the front mount on the chaingaurd and then break it down for paint.

I love the Speedway museum. I always try to stop in for a few hours when I’m on a cross country trip.
I spent the whole day there with my Dad about 7 years ago. When Bill died I figured the kids would kill the program. This year they bought the Darryl Starbird museum and the Unser museum. I’d say it’ll be around for a long time.

Got off my butt tonight and got into the shop. I moved the front mount for the chain guard . Then trimmed up the back of the guard to follow the back of the chassis a little better. I then removed the lower fender mount from the kickstand bracket. I had purchased a new Schwinn headstock emblem correct for the Bicentennial bike. With it being a 20” the mounting holes were off so I tig welded them shut and drilled the new holes. Then broke the bike down. I’m going to get it degreased and then blasted. I haven’t decided if I will paint it at work or have it powder coated.

I was able to get the lower half of the seat pan painted at work today Just happen to be painting an Acura so I threw this in the booth I have the upper half repaired and painted After blasting it was pretty rough I had to patch some holes in it and threw some krylon at it Hoping to get some dense foam from my buddy soon and my Stars and Stripes swim trunks should be arriving soon

My swimtrunk purchase was a fail to use as the material to cover the seat. I bought the trunks large thinking it would give me more material. The problem is that the pattern is too large and doesn’t look right on the seat. Back to the drawing board.

Sly would have been very happy with your choice!

I ended up sending my seat to Joe Crawford and he covered it for me in record time.
I sent a bunch of stuff off to get plated. I was pretty happy with everything except for the sprocket. I’m gonna reach out and see if they will do anything about it.
I need to get off my ... and get the frame, fork and chain gaurd painted.
Here’s the seat

Had a busy weekend with the grandson’s birthday party and helping my parents with some brush cleanup but I was able to get the bike finished up.
I don’t really care for the block style Schwinn lettering in the mid 70’s, I had purchased an earlier set of decals for the top tube, but the color was way off. So I stayed with the blocks style. Other than that I’m pretty with how it turned out.
