Bicycle parts are built to be light weight. Parts which give reliable service are often considered ``overbuilt'' and are redesigned to save a few grams. The goal of designers seems to be to make every element of the bicycle be ``the weakest link in the chain.'' That is, no grams should be ``wasted'' making anything durable. If a crank breaks at the ends but not in the middle, then the middle is clearly overbuilt and should be reduced. As a result, all elements of most parts are thus highly stressed.

^^^ Is this how road/track bike companies really design parts? No wonder I've stuck with BMX all of my life

Annika, That happen to a local MTB guy. Except he went over the handlebars and is now a parapelegic.

Hello Annika,

I've been dealing withn Orthipidic Surgens for about 8 months now with my wife ( Lou Lou ) elbow. ........She now posseses 10 Titanium Screws & two Titanium Plates .

This is not about Lou Lou ..... In one of the ten million visits I had to make with Lou to the doctor some how we all struck up a conversation about what the worse these poor Folk in the orthipidic office had seen happen to a bicyclest .

Well , ... Your not gona belive it but it only took the Doctor 3 seconds to begin a story about some Poor Soal that had been 10 speeding along on the Sacramento American River Bike trail ... Minding his own ... paying attn. when out of no were like a Bat outta hell a Squirel Had played a game of chicken From the side of the rider ... trying to beat the bike to a certan point on the silly trail & Viola ...

He had made it (The Squirl) about half way thru the wheel when suddenly it locked up the front wheel & it planted the poor rider like a nail , thus breaking the poor riders neck .

It all happend SO fast , the ridder didn't have a chance to even get there feet out of the pedals before going down.

Long made short, it must looked like that LOL . I'm sorry ..not to laugh but man , what a way to go yano.
If ya got hurt , Im sooooo sorry .... I mean it

Best wishes,
Wingman
