I need a shimano freewheel tool for 333 freewheels from the 60's. It has 12 spines, and the one I bought on Ebay with 12 that came up when I searched for 333 tool was too fat. $10 wasted.

Which tool do I need? I need one bad.

Is the one you purchased silver? The silver one is for a Falcon freewheel, you need the black one Park FR-1 it is slightly smaller. Hope this helps.

Look on their site under freewheel tools and it tells what each fit. I always try to test fit one from the shop before I order one for my collection. I have a rule for tools , If I have to borrow it twice, I need one in my box. I have used this adage for over 30 years and yes I have alot of tools.

Same here, but I have a lot of sugar and eggs in my tool box now.

sounds like you need the bicycle research ct-4.

or you may find a 'vintage' shimano one on ebay.

i don't believe park makes one for that application, and it's probably not common enough for the chinese to bother with a knock-off.

:)

here's the difference between the 2 tools.

newer shimano 'ug' tool (r) vs the older 'boss' style (l)

Yup, the one on the left is what I need. But the picture on the BR site doesn't look the same?

And Bicycle808, I have four vintage 5-speed bikes. So one of these tools is going to be mandatory.

i think the one in my photo is a 30+ year old actual shimano brand tool.

looked on ebay, and there is indeed a lifu chinese knock off, a nos shimano, and a couple nos eldis...
