I have a 77 Murray "King Kat". Should I try and keep it as original as possible to keep the value or can I trick it out with other parts and custom paint and still maintain value. Can anyone tell me the value of such a bike restored or otherwise?

Thanks Steve

I'm guessing this is a "spider" bike. Some 70's Murrays have cash value, but it's usually obvious, and most of them don't. Gears? Whacky and unusual handle bars, or frame shape? No? Start stripping.

i replied to your other thread further down (double post)

"murray king kats fetch a high dollar value if complete and original.
i'm all for chopping old bikes (even a 67 schwinn stingray deluxe)
but ya might wanna look into that.

i have a feeling that king kat (in original condition), could probably buy you more than a few ratty bicycles."
last one i saw was listed for $900
