Just curious, I figure there is some sort of significance to the letters BOA-G on the 3G tires that I am missing, but I have never seen an explanation. What does it stand for, if anything?

I really don't know, my guess is the BOA part is because they look like fat Boa Constrictor snakes and the G is part of 3G.
Naw, they're just boag tires!
Maybe I'll add a big "US" to mine so I can be riding on BOA-GUS tires!
