I know I'm not going to win. I might not even finish. But Matti ain't quitting. Got a couple of hours' work done on the fish

Switching over to the 40 tooth is going to cost me some top end for sure, I lost more teeth than Bobby Clark!

But the look speaks for itself. Some old beat down alloy pedals went on too.

For grease, I'm trying a new tool. Suggested by a user who is currently slipping my mind. Sorry. Made an injector by cutting off the tip of the needle on a meat flavor injector.

Pack the grease in, and apply with precision!

Don't worry, I still made a bit of a mess

Don't forget to save the cap to prevent spillage or contamination

Best way to grease bearings is to hold the bearing in the palm of your hand, put a dab about a quarter size of grease in the middle and then work it into the frame of the bearing with your index finger, making sure all of the balls are surrounded by grease and the frame is filled. That's old school and it will last. I do like your injector, could be handy on a quick axle lube...

Reality check day. The back wheel just isn't going to cut it. It is far too wobbly and warped for this build. I have work to do.

The original steel wheels from Fishbone are in perfect condition, they're just nothing special. Basic Chinese stuff from over a quarter century ago, Pheasant hub or something.
Just the back mag is a mess, the front is still usable. The pegs are gone, no room on the axle bolt. We're going to have to see if I can stand the mismatch

I will be surprised if I make it to the deadline with a working bike, it definitely won't be the finished product

I hope you make it to the “finish”. But are they ever finished? I am doing my best to get my build to a “finished” state, but I also plan to tear it down again, repaint and add some touches. Maybe for a future build off. I already have some things I don’t currently like about my build but just going with it for now. All the luck!

Cleaned and installed the old grips provided by @ingola thanks again, man, the cockpit is all set!

It is tough to get a good picture in the basement. I love these grips, bring me back every time I grab them. My homie Dorf from back in the day had one of those dirtbike bicycles with these things, and we would bomb the hills at his farm, or out at the Moose Creek quarry.

Probably not the one Dorffy had

Or is it? Humor the ramblings of a madman. Sometimes I yearn for an actual complete bike. Remember those 30" wide moto bars I took the brace from?

They are wiiiiiiiiide! :rockout:

This, however awesome, paints me into a corner. No longer running "muscle" bars, but they certainly are crazy. I think I'd have to put on a bigger tire up front, and then I just have a banana seat, 1 of 3. I don't think this is the place for this bar.

Opinions? Also, here's the spoked wheel mounted on the front for comparison purposes:

Dug into the treasure chest and found some old stuff for that bag...

Can't be too many Stalemate patches left out there in the wild. Most of my old punk patches have gone missing over the years. I used to have a stack. Working up the nerve to sew these things together. I expect blood.

I have one of those two quite a few more to even all the old posters

Looks great with the bars and the spokes! Maybe a slight seat drop and stem raise would help the proportions in my opinion. I dig it!

I like the crossbar apes better. Keep the mag front too.

It's settled: the mag is back on. Shortened the axle bolt 1/2" on each side with the dremel. Probably could have removed 3/4". Also cut the rear section of the outer brake cable that attaches to the noodle. Probably could have left 1/2" more on there  .
So close i can almost taste it, and yet still so far.
