Hi all,
Picked up this '41 Schwinn DX frame for a new Klunker build from user "46Powerwagon" and am in the process of cleaning up the Henderson head badge.
I started with a metal polishing product I had under the sink called "Mr Metal" which is slowly lifting up the layers of tarnish and I'm starting to see the original paint come through. I can't tell if the metal polish is degrading the original paint or if it's just lifting the tarnish off and showing the already-damaged paint beneath it.
Searching the "How-To" pages has shown some pretty good results with Brasso but the instructions on the bottle say not to use on painted surfaces. Just wondering if you guys have had any experience using the stuff to bring back old badges and how it effected the original paint.
Thanks in advance!
