ok so this week the morons must have really been out in full force. (no disrespect intended as i write this entry you will understand).
i had about 3 people bring me these bratz bikes that resemble the sting ray.
only problem is the serial number didn't match right and they were obviously brats cheap spinoffs.
now don't get me wrong a bratz bike would make a cool cheap ray cruiser but it is nowhere near as valuable.
one guy brought one painted purple with the stars on it and swore on his dead grandmother it was a real sting ray and he "customized" it but painting it purple because he liked the color he wanted 125 dollars.
i laughed him out of my shop.
i asked him if he added the full rear fender and the bratz seat as well because that's what they came with.
another one he at least painted it blue and put sting ray decals on it but i knew the difference the frames are different enough to know their not a real sting ray he tried to get 300 for his imposter.
the third and possibly the best imposter was a :krate" yet it was 20/20 and had no Schwinn decals or markings .
the wheels weren't even from a sting ray or a brats bike but rather a cheap road master pair. but at least after i busted his bubble he admitted it wasn't real and says he bought it form someone else as it sits which is possible.he then sold it to me for 25 bucks, after which i donated it to a local helping hand place that deals in bicycles.
the reason im ranting is has anyone else had this issue coming up or is it just me?
these "investors" need to realize their nothing more then a common used car salesman trying to put shame on a an iconic classic and should be persecuted for such crimes. lol
again, no disrespect intended, as i too sell used cars on occasion .
so no disrespect to anyone i am just wondering if anyone has these kinda stories and wanted to create a post so you can share them and laugh(or not) at the people who try this.
thanks and feel free to post
