You don't need to be in the Winter Olympics to score a little gold. :?

A woman called me about a Coppertone Stingray a few weeks back. She was asking a fortune. She called back this weekend with a more reasonable figure. It is a '68 with a Bendix blue band 2 speed.

This was a craigslist find. Man is this thing mint! Not a scratch. I bought it for the health benefits, and it looks cooler than a spin bike. I am considering drops and a leather saddle. I am looking for some early Paramount decals.

OK, this one isn't gold. I had it in pieces before I thought to grab a camera. For $7 at the local thrift shop, a Schwinn racer. Pretty beat...

... but it came with a working Bendix red band 2 speed.

Ha!

Saw that Racer on CL already. It's been tempting me all morning.

I've got too many projects already tho'.

That Stingray ought to turn out nice too.

Nice finds, If you ever decide to sell or trade the stingray let me know. Feel free to shoot me an email. [email protected]. I am down in Kenosha so I could pick it up. Matt

Dude? Like, are you on every single one of my forums? First Isthmus Daily Page, and now Rat Rod Bikes?

Are you following me?

This is Dave E, right?

I don't think we have ever met formally, but I hang out at the Crystal Corner occasionally. Lived in the Willy neighborhood for years. We have probably crossed paths. I may have punched Dan Motor once. Don't recall for sure. He was tryin' to tell me how Cheap Trick were the greatest rock band ever, or something. Kinda fuzzy.

Feel free to contact me if you have any vintage part needs. Given the old projects I see you working on, you should see my basement. Seriously.

It's amazing that kickback still works. A testament to Bendix' quality machining and design. They just don't make them like they used to...in the USA, anyway. Gary

Yes, that would be the Ampeg B-18 Portaflex. Like Buttah, I tell ya!

I pulled it out of a chicken coop in rural St. Louis.
