As seen on this BUILD I'm having an issue where my sprocket seems to be too far in and affecting the chain line. Is there a way to put a spacer in it, or something that will get the sprocket to come out? I'm looking at it not seeing a way. Are there such a thing as wider crank arms that would allow the sprocket to sit out farther?

So those threads on the left give it the "play" room? I'll try that. I'll have to scrounge up some BB washers, but I think I have a couple.

Thanks!

No. Don't even try, you're bound to fail. :p

It's common practice to use one or more 1/8"x15/16" i.d. washers to center or chainline adjust various vintages and brands of 1-piece bb, cranks, and hardware. These parts are usually obtained from a pile of old bikes, but you can probably buy some new somewhere.

Oops, I see you're doing 3-pc. forget it, see the first sentence.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!

I'm using a 1-piece crank. I'm going to put the washer(s) in between the cone and the sprocket and see what happens.

Yup, that will move the chainwheel out away from the frame.

Yup, simple fix  Put a washer on the right side of the sprocket. That's what I did to the Hot Rod Deluxe :D

I think you mean the left side of the sprocket! Otherwise the chainline doesn't change, just the righthand crank arm moves out....

Yes, that's exactly what I mean!

For the shorty bike, when I wanted to get around the 4" tires, I did it a more ghetto way, that was very effective. I got a cheap mountain bike one piece crank that had the three chainrings on it, and cut off the inner two rings, leaving me the largest outside one, which was then about a half inch out from where it bolted onto the crank. Worked very well, and because all the slicing and dicing was done on the inside, you can't really see it too much.
