Imagine my excitement when my dad comes home with what looks like a piece of yard art on the back of his restored Mack B-75. I come running over before it's even fully in the garage... only to find it's not so yard art at all. It's actually pretty nice looking at a closer distance. I hop up on the flatbed- looks English, or Canadian... maybe an old CCM. Then I look closer. It's a diamond frame, with rear facing dropouts, tensioners, notorious short headtube, beautiful new departure hubs, and sporting a tremendous sweetheart skiptooth crank. EA Light on the crusty crossbrace handlebars... wooden front rim, ridiculous long spring saddle, rain gutter fenders... yeah, my dad brought home a gem. Thanks dad!

He went over to my uncle's place to bring him some wood to saw up in the mill, at the old family home. My uncle had just refound an old trinket in the attic and brought my dad up for a look- a long forgotten bicycle of one of the family members that had lived there over half a century ago. "Take it, if Chris even wants it, just get it outta here." My dad knew it was something good, and took the military-green housepainted treasure back home with him.

I can't even believe the luck. It must have been up there for at least 50 years, and no one had even remembered it 'till now. I'd estimate it to be teens vintage, and we acquired the place in '23... hopefully my calls to my uncle and other family members can shed some light on this forgotten relic.

Pictures after dinner.

Being a family bike, that is the plan! :D And here it is... Can anyone offer any help on ID? My stab-in-the-dark guess was a Westfield... I forgot to get a pic of the dropouts and headbadge holes, which I will take and post later. The bike seems to originally have been navy blue and red.

My Dad says we should restore it...

Hi Chris :)

realy a nice score, glad for you to have such a nice family !, by the way it's that some kind of locking sistem on the skiptooh chain :?:

later

Haha, thanks guys, yeah, up here we get those high tech chain anti-theft devices from mud wasps. :D Pretty nasty little suckers, with long stingers that hurt really nice... got stung by four at one time last year. :(

The bike does seem to be in really solid shape... I'm thinking the front wheel was changed at one point, as it is strictly wood, whereas the rear is steel clad. It's also a different color. I'm thinking I'll keep my eyes open for a rim to match the back, and swap it out. Restoration does not seem too far fetched at all... maybe I can just remove the ugly house paint and try to save what's underneath. I'd like to try that first...

Sadly, the fork is tweeked as it appears in the picture. :(
