Chrome or Nickel

I'm restoring a 20's hawthorne but I'm not sure if they used chrome or nickel plating back then. Any help? I'm sure this is a newb question, but thanks for any help

Thats an easy one. Nickle. I don't know what year in the 20's the bike is from but chrome didn't come out until the 30's so.......

If you put a chromed piece and a nickeled piece side by side, the chrome will have a bluish cast and the nickel will have a yellowish cast. Gary

nickel tarnishes, but is a much warmer look due to the color like B607 pointed out. I think it wears and ages better. I oil nickle like i do any raw aluminum.

So would it be wrong to chrome instead of nickel plate? I'm looking for hassle free, and I don't feel like oiling and all that..
