Chromoly Continental

[The Black Monark]

Picked this up on Sunday. Brazed chromoly frame, will make it a rider. On the way are some alloy 26 x 1 3/8" rims, cartridge headset, cartridge front hub. Not sure what rear hub will go on it yet. Anyone have a seat tube clamp? It's ~28mm, most were stamped AS in the center.

Humm, those forks are rather weak. Most I've seen are bent back. Including one I bent myself. Owie. Avoid running into things or doing wheelies or jumping curbs on that 60 year old fork.

Nice find. A very rare model to be sure. I'd just clean the frame and wax it to slow the rust.

They're not the stoutest, for sure. I have another Continental from the same era, so I'm familiar with them.

Well, cripes.... that's a standard size, these days.... or did you want an original AS one? (Somehow, i suspect you do...) So, what size is the seatpost?

I have the post. The steel one's in the frame and I have a "vintage" Control Tech, need the frame clamp. I can find a new one, but the oldies look cool

Pre '48 but just barely. I'd say it's a '47 or early '48. Gary
