OK - this is the 3rd Monark girls bike I've picked up. This is a great find for me because I love the rear rack. It's not just a reflector, there is a light unit up in there. I've never seen one like this so I was all over it. I didn't think it was going to happen - it was listed a week ago today, I didn't see it till Friday & the guy never responded to my email till 11:00 AM Sunday. Then he tried to tell me it probably wasn't worth driving 3 hours for because it had house paint on it. But I had to have that rack. I've been wanting to rat a Monark ever since I came across some pics of a bike club in CA that had a few Monarks ratted out. With the deep fenders and the man size rack they just look tough! So, I want to do a sex change and since it's gonna be a rat it can be as non-traditional as I want. I printed out the side shot in b&w and have been sketching different bar combinations but haven't produced one I really like yet. I also have a spare boys Monark tank that could be incorporated into the mix. If anybody has some frame imagination I am more than open to ideas. This being a later model with the Schwinn type spring doesn't look as cool but I also have another girls Super Deluxe with the dual springs. I can rat either or both. Any input? I look at the build off bikes and wonder where these guys get their ideas. I know when I like something as soon as I see it, I just can't imagine it in my mind. Has someone designed a rat frame computer program yet? (kidding) Or should I just forget it and do a semi-restore? (boring) What do you think?

id rat out the super deluxe cuz i couldnt bring myself to hack up that other firestone super cruiser, girl's frame or not. especially with those forks, you can go all mad scientist on the super deluxe and rat it out to the max. personally, i wouldnt touch the firestone super cruiser, and ride as is or give it to a lady friend.

I'd steal all the parts from the firestone if it was me. lol I have a men's firestone supercruiser that needs some parts. good thing alot of bikes have parts that will fit though lol. I like the looks of them bikes though. are these old bikes supposed to make alot of noises?
