What can be done to improve the performance of coaster brakes when rebuilding a hub? I know that the "shoes" and hub need to be clean and dry.Any tips? Thanks :?:

If you're doing "standard" modern 2-cookie brakes, and your hub and drive cone are in good shape, just see that the return spring and the clip/washer deal that it rides against (some hubs work fine without these), aren't bent out of shape, and jam pack the whole thing with some marine grade wheel bearing grease. Bearings should be just snug enough to eliminate the side play. The 2 bearings on the drive side are where it will be noticeable.
