Here's the Schwinn Collegiate I "neo-resto'd". It was pretty rough when I got it. The brakes are the originals. I filed the slots to move the pads up. The pads are red Ritcheys in a nod to the original red pads. The bars, stem, and fenders are from the same parts bike(e-bay). The wheels are custom built: NOS 1994 Campagnolo hub front, new Sturmey Archer 3 speed rear, Sun CR-18 700C rims. The seat is NOS Brooks vinyl racing seat. Bell is Electra, basket is Topeak. Grips, crank, pedals and chain are repro parts. I had to build front fender stay extensions. The fenders and chainguard are plastic dipped on the inside. This was originally a 5 speed.

glad you kept the fenders too (fan of the painted fenders), looks like the perfect rider to me !

I just looked up the date code on this bike. I thought it was a '73 or '74. It was actually made in July 1970.
