Columbia 5 Star Fork-HOW DO I GET IT APART?!

Well...IM officially stumped...The two things that look like they hold the fork together-they dont want to come apart-or twist...or anything

I could be completely wrong and looking at the wrong thing...Tell me what to do oh mighty ratrodbikes members

The chrome inserts in the ends of the spring unscrew. You need a large wrench to get on it. A big adjustable will work. Take the top one off first, then twist the spring out of the lower one. It should then fall out.
