Cool pic I just found,...that's my uncle Andy on the left, my dad (Marcheil) standing and a friend (Frank) on their new bikes in 1937! My dad was 16 when this pic was taken. Can anyone identify these bikes.?

Andy’s bike is a Shelby from no earlier than late 1936, The Frank's bike is harder to pin down as several manufacturers produced Moto Balloon models that are very similar and hard to name if you can’t zoom in on the details.

From what I can see, there is a reflection near the head tube that may just be sunlight on the front of the tank, or it may be a key boss which would make the bike a rare Manton & Smith Moto Balloon.

Another possibility is a Ranger, the sprocket pattern was used by Manton & Smith, Shelby, Schwinn, and on Schwinn built Rangers. The fork crown is wrong for a Shelby or a Schwinn but doesn't rule out the other two.
