But the real question is...
Who's gonna have a roller on the last day of BONINE?

Carl.

The past few BOs only have about 50% of the entries finish.

...and you better hurry cuz the last Build-off I was in the cryers got all the rules ditched. You know what? It did nothing to improve the build-off...

Carl.

I think Merle was one who asked why we needed rules actually... :13:

Luke.

There aren't that many rules, but there is no changing of the rules. What you see is what you get. It doesn't matter if you whine or not. The start time is the start time and the deadline is the deadline. No changes, no extensions.

Yeah, that Merle... he cracks me up.
Me? I like rules. But,
Even tho I saw lots of posts talking about no boundaries,
the radical builds were hardly recognized.
That was a travesty and a detriment to the sport...
Awesome customs deserve their own category.
So do the traditional builds.

Carl.

What would be a good dividing line is stock bolt on no welding, welded modified frames (means you start with a stock frame and still use most of it) and the anything your insane mind can whip up and bolt tape spit & weld together (ie anything goes). Still doesn't level the field totally, but does even it out a little better.

This is done in the racing circuit allot for drag racers and other such areas.

heya, without digging through 19 pages in this thread. Can anyone link me the build rules/entry info for this years, and perhaps previous years if similar?

Assembling parts for my build now ;)

Even though the Build Offs have become a big part of RRB, the past ones are actually buried pretty deep in the forum.

I am actually having a hard time finding the RULES Sticky from last years Build Off 8

I thought the new dividing lines of last year (traditional & anything goes) were for the most part, successful. I will probably never build a bike that fits in the traditional category, but that's on me. Did I feel a disadvantage doing a cut-n-hack going up against some full custom builds? Yes, but hey, I was building the bike I wanted, and that's what it's about. Th only negative I had for it was that the 29 entries in the anything goes builds seemed to get a lot less attention than the traditional side of things. I also felt bad for the one guy last year who was in anything goes simply because he was powder coating his bike, with no welding or other mods.

I would be very interested to see the results if there was only one category, and it was basically anything goes. Would all the traditional guys have a huge disadvantage, or would something like the fordsnake build still rise to the top?

Either way, I have one of two builds that I'm saving for the build off (I might switch builds away from my originally intended build, as I'm not feeling that one as much right now), and I'll build the bike I want. Yes, both are in the anything goes column, and I'm okay with that.
