Cracked Aluminum Seatpost Receiver

Have a chance to get this Townie on the cheap. How would I do a fix on the seat given that it is made of aluminum. Would some kind of sleeve work?

That looks like a classic case of not observing the "minimum insertion depth" rule. Is the saddle, seat post and clamp included? Personally. I don't think the damage is that big a deal, provided the seat post extends for a reasonable distance into the lower tube. With a long post, properly inserted, and the QR clamp in place, one probably wouldn't even see the deformity.

That doesn't look too bad to me. You could probably pound a steel post in upside down and use a plastic mallet to smooth out the aluminum. Maybe use a little heat. If the price was significantly lower than a perfect bike I would jump on it.

I ended up getting a set of Electra Straight Eight wheels because the owner ignored the minimum insertion and ended up snapping the the frame off at the top. that one looks fixable

Agree on using a steel post inserted and gently hammering the tube back round. You'll still have a tear.
What's the clamp diameter, BMX stuff has tall /wide double bolt clamps that may cover the area.

There may be enough tube height there to cut off the damaged area, drill a hole for the bottom of the keyhole and cut a new slit. I wouldn't consider that frame junk, just needs some attention.

Not sure I would fix this error then sell it. Because of the metal properties of aluminum, the damage is done once it is bent. If you can cut out the damage as noted, then it would probably be fine. But you keyhole slit should not extend down into the weld area as that may create additional stress.

I decided to pass on it at this time. Still posted so I may reconsider. Not comfortable flipping something that may have a safety issue.
