So this AM we have a mini blizzard. got the car scraped off and thought I'd have a second cup of coffee before I start out.
So looking at c/l local and surrounding areas all bikes and least price first.
All of the following listed for $1 in title.
Multiple listings - same seller - junky kick stand, bars, ect. Really make offer " but be aware I know what they sell for on Ebay." What !
Ratty old vintage 70's 10 speed - in body of listing really $125 - " ready to ride" bike with tires that "just need air". Sure, and tires and tubes !
Finally specialized "Race ready" bike - in body of listing really priced at $1900. In Wisconsin, In February, Wow.
I just don't get people - If you are selling please set a price and put it in the title.

uh-oh, I've been guilty of the dreaded $1 listing, as you have to put a price. If your listing multiple items at different prices it seems like a reasonable and easy way to list price. Does anyone sell anything for $1? I always thought it was understood by others. Now if you have one item and list it for $1 and it's not, that's pretty screwed up....Sorry if i ever made any of ya'll angry! :D

Not to change the posting but since you're talking about sellers and their "baited" listings....the ones that tick me off are when an eBay seller is selling a small worth $25 lists it for .99 but shipping cost is $25. Actual shipping costs are a lot lot less. Ask what you want for it or start the bid at that price then use an accurate shipping charge! Sorry to go off the trail, buddies!

People used to do this on eBay to avoid fees, that's why they started charging a percentage on shipping too.

But Dave. Did you list, say, a set of pedals for $1.00 but put the standard shipping price at $25.00? That's what I didn't like. They would say seller accepts returns but buyer is responsible for return shipping. I stayed away from those listings like terminal hemmoroids! Why not just list it at a reasonable fair price and reasonable shipping charges? Because to avoid a higher fee for a higher sold price!

I was responding to the OP, about $1 craigslist ads with multiple items, I have done the same. As for shipping on CL ads I have never considered that and have never sold anything on ebay or similar site, sorry for the confusion :D

My original complaint was with people who list things at a very low price and then ask for offers but insist they "know what it's worth" and imply not to offend the seller with "low ball" offers. If the seller is knowledgeable about what they are selling and have done their research then simply ask a fair price for it.
