I know it's just a part.......I thought is was a cool part though. I recently accquired this curved dogleg crank. I think it was only used 2 years on the 37/38 Roadmaster Supreme model. Anyone know of anything else that used a curved crank?

The sprocket is pre war CWC also but not correct to the Supreme......I just needed something to hold up the crank for a picture.

In Balloondom, the 1937 and 1938 Roadmaster Supremes were the only bicycles that used the cranksets with curved crank arms. Cleveland Welding and H.P. Snyder both supplied Girl’s Hawthorne Zeps in 1938. These were slightly modified CWC Supremes in the case of the CWC supplied units and copies of the CWC Supreme in the case of those supplied by Snyder. I believe the CWC units had the curved arm cranksets and the Snyder bikes did not but I haven’t found enough trustworthy reference bicycles yet to state that unequivocally.

Another curiosity is that comparing my CWC curved cranks it is obvious that there are two kinds. Some have heavy crank arms while others are more delicate, because these cranks were sourced from several sources it is impossible for me to know if it is just a case of two different suppliers being used or if there is reason to the application of the two different designs, i.e. boy’s vs. girl’s or 1937 vs. 1938.

Thanks Phil for the info...interesting as always. Now all I need is a Supreme frame to start another parts collecting project
