Couldn’t resist this ol’ girl when I saw her today. Script grips and front hub. Rear Bendix 36-13. Love the patina. Not sure what the plan is yet. Bikes like this I like to ride or re-home to adoring parents. They’re easy and fun for a one-banana monkey such as myself.

Plus, she’s pretty.

Just because I don’t normally do this..,what size banana seat do folks normally put on 26” wheeled bikes like this?

I like the classic 50’s appearance, and these handlebars are an awfully nice shape…but a banana seat and tall bars could be neat.

It occurs to me this is Rat Rod Bikes and I have no rat rod.

Links to cheap repops or used seats are appreciated.

I bought three reproduction seats and they are all a bit flimsy. The one I use on the 26er was the longest one I could find. I believe it’s about 22 inches depending on how you measure & 5 1/4” wide.

Actually the tires on this bike are 26x4” rear & 700c x 38 front.

I took it all apart and welded up all of the weakness to make it more suitable for an adult’s weight. I reupholstered it with dense foam, because the original foam was pitiful. I added 2 spot welds to the bracket so it now has 7 instead of 5.

I only weigh 170 pounds, and I thought it was ok, after that much work. Not super sturdy yet.

Good points and thanks for the measurement. I’d probably start with a cheap seat just to suss out of I like it.
Your bike looks cool, gives me funny car vibes.

how did he slacken the angle of the head tube?
By bending both the top downtube & bottom downtube he kicked it back, & then put the little stub in there to hold everything.

That gives more rake, but it also shortens the distance from the seat to the handlebars.

I asked Cjell Mone if he layback-ed the above refrenced frame and the answer was no. He says he just moved the bridges and made it 27.5.

I can’t weld and only have 26” wheels but it’s interesting.

The original fork on my bike is shot.

Yesterday I picked up a used fork, started disassembling this bike and considering klunkification. I wish I had silver bars lying about but I don’t and I’m cheap.
