i got some new forks for my grimace bike yesterday, the headtube length is right, and everything fits (well, kinda) but my problem is that theres about 1/2 and inch of extra thread. so how can i cut the forks in the threaded section? im thinking of putting aheadtube nut on, and then using a sawzall to cut it as straight as possible. anyone before i totaly ruin it doing it wrong?

Here's what I've done.
Thread on a headset bearing nut (I think that's what it's called, it's the first thing you install that threads down to the bearing cup) to the desired depth (the final overall fork length). Then, since it's flat on top, you can lay your hack saw/cutting wheel against it to trim the steer tube to the correct length. Then, as you back the nut back out it will clean up the threads. I hope I explained that right.

*disclaimer* try at your own risk

Good luck!

Cheers,
