Steppin' up your wheel game I see. This might be one of your favorite riders when all is said and done.

Y'all should have at least looked at the last Unofficial March Shootout. 3/4 of this set was on my last build. I recycle sets often til they find a permanent position, the new bit here is the laced rear wheel. My riders (& I have a few) usually have 3 speed coasters or 2 speed kickbacks. This will be my first 3 speed drum brake build.

Couldn't wait till later so maybe I will take that nap...
First mockup after paint. Seat position fits the pilot but it's out there so we'll see what happens...

Kind of a cross between smoke and black chrome. It's better than I could have done.

Well... DEAD SPACE is on the schedule for paint Wednesday maybe tomorrow? So I'm still wrenching on this Monark. Spinning names around in my head, I'm about settled on Iron Butterfly. Stole some parts off my March Shootout bike. So now it's got a two speed kicker and some beautifully patina'd bars on it. Needs some seatpost weathering and we be ready for the linseed oil. Never done it before so we'll see what happens...View attachment 199972
Carl.
Use very thin coats I've done a few if you want a less shiny finish I mix with paint thinner I wouldn't on that though. That green monarch will shine awsome.

Don't know what these things were for originally. But I'll replace the bolts with a couple set screws and add threaded rod to the front with some rubber washers and chrome acorns and it's a windscreen. Cuz you know the solar wind is pretty wicked in space.

Some things I don't like...
It was easy to get carried away with the black tint. I'll be going back and buffing the black off the rack struts and the crank assembly and repainting the crank cap too. But I do like the tint on the red of the rack so that's staying, now to mask off the red on the chain guard for tinting.

That big Hank. The Spaceliner is a middleweight frame and between the 2" rim and the rounded sides of the 2.2" tire, it just don't fit. Now this squared shouldered street tread 2.125" on the same rim fits fine. I like this tire too but it ain't the Hank.

So did I pull it off? Does it look right to you?

Guitarl.

I think so. I really dig it. The only thing you might consider is to maybe wrap part of the seatpost that goes under the seat so that it mimics the grip part of the gas pump handle. Just an idea.

Yeah, you may have to put some dropout extensions to get the Hank to fit. That is basically what I had with my TwinFlex rear suspension on my Flex-Liner 7 build.

Even with the questionable choices I've made earlier, I think this windscreen looks good. Not my idea originally but one I told the builder I saw using it that I'd be knicking it and he said the same thing, not his idea originally either. But I don't remember seeing one in recent history here.

I gotta dig up a shifter quick tho.
Them are some tall gears...

Carl
edit for a question:
Is the windscreen a bit too big?
I'm thinking it needs to be cut down a little, more in height and a little in width.
